John and Wendy Darling are new to the Marlowe School and are studying hard. Unfortunately they are studying an ancient Egyptian text called the Book of Gates that opens up a portal to EVIL!!! Now there is a new RA named Peter (as in Pan) that wants to show Wendy a way to be young forever, but this boy is way more lost than the Pan of legend and Wendy may be consumed by a dark love that could destroy everyone she cares about in this modern twist on Peter Pan.
This is the second book in the series of reimagined legends by the Nayeris and the characters from Another Faust do make appearances in this one. However, new readers won’t have to have read the first book to follow this new tale. First the good news: Another Pan has a strong female lead and a well written dark romance. The reworked Peter Pan elements are cool, creepy, and very inventive. The not as good: like Another Faust it takes a while to get started. Some readers may not want to keep reading the admittedly slow build up, which is a shame as this is an interesting book despite its flaws. If you are looking for a new fractured fairy tale or doomed romance you could really enjoy this one.
